General Requirements for Acceptance

  • Only Israeli citizens may register to the Faculty of Medicine.
  • Only after being accepted by the Faculty of Medicine, you will have to fill out a Declaration of Health and send it jointly with one advance payment to the School of Medicine.
  • The students who were accepted will be requested to submit a police certificate that relates to the fact that in the past, they did not have a criminal record due to sex offenses (“Certificate of Adulthood” for men). The certificate will be submitted to the Secretariat of the Faculty of Medicine in accordance with the instructions that will be sent in the beginning of the year.
  • Certificate of Vaccinations: Experience in the clinical fields is included as from the first academic year. In accordance therewith and pursuant to the instructions of the Ministry of Health, all the students who start the first year in the study of Medicine must to present a Certificate of Vaccinations. The signed certificate (parts A, B, C in Appendix 1 ) must be sent via e-mail to the School of Medicine no later than one month from the beginning of the school year.
  • It will be clarified that non-vaccination on time, will prevent students from being able to participate in the clinical experience course. This will lead to a split in the current year. The latest guidelines for Corona change from time to time. Hospital entry requirements will be based on the latest Ministry of Health directives for the school year. The same is true for the studies in the faculty.
  • One may register to Medicine, to the track for a double degree program in Medicine and Biomedical Engineering, Medical Tracks for the double degree program in Medicine and Medical Tracks only if it is first priority, i.e., one may register only to one of these four tracks.

Applicants with Full Academic Background from Israel or Abroad 

Only applicants that have a degree or are in their last year of their degree at a recognized academic institution in Israel or abroad from one of the following disciplines will be considered: Life Sciences, Nature Sciences, Exact Sciences, Pharmacology, Dentistry or Engineering.

  • Applicants in this category may apply only to the first year of studies at the Faculty of Medicine, Technion.
  • Preliminary consideration of applicants with a previous academic background will take into consideration the grades average of at least five semesters (must have an average of 85 and above) + the psychometric score (at least 700). The grade average for students in their last semester of their first degree will be calculated without taking into consideration the grades from the last semester of their degree.
  • Admission is conditional upon completion of all requirements for the first degree.
  • Committee decisions will be based on all the data included in the application package.
  • Admissions is subject to the number of available spaces (very limited) and is for the first year of studies only.
  • Only applicants with the highest statistics will be summoned for the admission test.
  • After the M.O.R. test, candidates will be ranked according to their score on the M.O.R. test along with the rest of their application statistics stated above.
  • Each year a minimum score of the M,O.R test is set for discussion based on academic background. See the previous minimum grade 
  • Students with disciplinary actions against them in their student file from their previous degree will not be accepted.
  • Accepted students will be required to submit certification of completion of first degree upon matriculation to the Faculty of Medicine. Candidates from abroad are required to provide an official document from their academic institution stating how the candidate is ranked in comparison to his/her peers that studied in the same track during the same years as the candidate.

Applicants with Partial Academic Background from Israel or Abroad (after at least 3 semesters)

Only applicants from the following disciplines will be considered: Life Sciences, Nature Sciences, Exact Sciences, Pharmacology, Dentistry or Engineering.

  • Applicants in this category may apply only to the first year of studies at the Faculty of Medicine, Technion.
  • Preliminary consideration of applicants with a partial academic background will take into consideration the grade average (must be at least 85) + the psychometric score (at least 700) + Sekem grade (at least 91).
  • Committee decisions will be based on all the data included in the application package.
  • Admissions is subject to the number of available spaces (very limited) and is for the first year of studies only.
  • Only applicants with the highest statistics will be summoned for the admission test.
  • After the M.O.R. test, candidates will be ranked according to their score on the M.O.R. test along with the rest of their application statistics stated above.
  • Each year a minimum score of the M.O.R test is set for discussion based on academic background. See previous year minimum score .
  • Students with disciplinary actions against them in their student file from their current degree will not be accepted.

Candidates from Other Medical Schools in Israel (6-Year Track)

  • Candidates from other Medical Schools in Israel in the 6-year track that finished at least one or more years of academic study and have performed well academically may apply to the Technion. Eligible applicants will be accepted only if there are spots available.
  • The admission committee will determine the stage they are in and the part of the program should be accepted to.
  • Candidates are exempt from submitting their psychometric test score.
  • The selection will be based solely on the academic achievements and according to the personal reasons of the candidate.
  • The candidate must provide proof that they meet the admissions requirements for the academic year they are applying for at the Technion and that they meet the requirements for the same academic level at the institution that they studied Medicine at previously.
  • Candidates must submit a CV and a personal statement that details the reasons they are requesting to transfer.
  • Outstanding candidates can submit their candidacy to the MD/PhD program.
  • Admissions for candidates is based on the number of available spaces (very limited amount).
  • Students with disciplinary actions against them in their student file will not be accepted.
  • Exemptions for clinical courses are not provided.

Candidates who are graduates of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

    • Candidates who are graduates of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Israel will be able to submit their candidacy for studies in the Faculty of Medicine in the Technion. Eligible applicants will be accepted only if there are spots available.
    •  Admissions for candidates is based on the number of available spaces (very limited amount).
    • The Admissions Committee will decide to which stage in the program of studies they will be accepted.
    • Candidates are exempt from submitting their psychometric test score.
    • Threshold requirements for the submittal of the candidacy: An average grade of 85 and above in a degree from a School for Dentistry, a medical license from the Ministry of Health that indicates that they are experts in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, an interview of acceptance. 
    • The submittal of the candidacy will be possible after two years of working in a hospital.
    • Candidates are requested to submit a cv that is written freely and a personal letter that details what they have been doing until recently, what was their field of internship, why they are interested in studying medicine, etc.
    • Candidates are requested to send a list of recommenders as well as a letter of a declaration of intent which is signed by the head of the Department in which they work acknowledging the implications that studying medicine will have on the working environment. Exemptions from courses in the clinical years will not be accepted!

Admission Test for Medical Studies (M.O.R.)

Applicants for Medicine, Medicine and Materials Engineering, Medicine and Computer Science, Medicine and Biomedical Engineering if potentially acceptable, will be invited for an admission test for medical studies (M.O.R.). The test is only in Hebrew.

Submission of Documents Attesting to Academic Background in all the Above Mentioned Disciplines

Note: The deadline for admissions is at the end of MarchThe last opportunity to take the Psychometric test for the 2023-2024 academic year is March/April. Additional test scores will not be accepted after this deadline.

Admissions for candidates with previous academic background is based on the number of available spaces (very limited amount).

Applicants with a previous academic background must submit all the application documents required of all new applicants; an official transcript, signed by the issuing institution, specifying courses taken during previous studies and the grades obtained.

Applicants with grades from abroad should provide a notarized photocopy of their grades, together with a notarized translation in Hebrew. Grade transcripts, which do not include an up-to-date cumulative grade average, will not be considered.

Candidates accepted based on previous academic background will not be exempt from clinical experience courses ('Clinical Tuesdays- Becoming a Doctor') during the pre-clinical years (1-3). Note: Exemptions from courses will not allow a student to advance to the following year.

Applicants with a previous academic background will not be considered on the basis of their Sekem only.
