Admission to Medical School

Minimal requirements for applicants with an academic background: An academic average of 85 and psychometric multi domain score of 700.

Some of the applicants will be requested to undergo a qualifying procedure (Evaluation System for Medical Schools - M.O.R) as part of the admissions process. The examination is offered only in Hebrew.

Final date for considering applicants with an academic background, who have already registered at the Technion, will be 31.3.2016.

Applicants Attending a Medical School Abroad

  • Students who have completed five semesters of Medical School Abroad may apply only to the fourth year at the Technion.
  • Preliminary consideration of applicants will take into consideration the grades average of five semesters (at least 85) + psychometric multi domain score (at least 700).
  • These grades should be submitted as early as possible, but not later than 30.3.2017.
  • Admission is conditional upon successful completion of the third year of studies.
  • Applicants will be requested to provide curriculum vitae and a personal letter detailing why they want to join the faculty of Medicine.
  • Applicants in this category will be required to pass internal tests, given in English, by the faculty of Medicine, in the following subjects: biochemistry, pharmacology, immunology & microbiology and pathology. The minimal grade for passing in each test is at least 75, average grade of all four tests should be at least 80.
  • These tests will be given between 16.7.2017 – 27.7.2017. Applicants must see to it that they are present for the tests. These tests will not be given at another time.
  • Applicants who pass the tests successfully will be invited for an interview / other non-cognitive evaluations / M.O.R.
  • Committee decisions are final and will be based on all the data included in the application package.
  • Admissions' decisions will depend on availability of open positions in the fourth year (which are very limited).

Applicants Attending the 6 year track  Medical School in Israel

  • Students who have completed one or more years of Medical School in Israel at the "6- year track" may apply for the second, third, fourth or fifth year at the Technion.
  • A special committee will consider the application.
  • Applicants should provide proof that they meet all the admissions' requirements for the stage of studies at the Technion to which they wish to be accepted, as well as confirmation that they are eligible for admission to that stage in the Medical School where they already study.
  • Applicants will be requested to provide curriculum vitae and a personal letter detailing why they want to join the faculty of Medicine.
  • The committee will consider the applicant's previous academic achievements, as well as his/her personal circumstances.
  • Committee decisions will be based on all the data included in the application package.
  • Admission's decisions will depend on availability of open positions in the relevant year (which are very limited).

Applicants Studying in Other Disciplines in Israel and Abroad   Acceptance only to the 1st year

Only applicants from the following disciplines will be considered: Life Sciences, Nature Sciences, Exact Sciences or engineering.

  • Applicants in this category may apply only to the first year of studies at the Faculty of Medicine, Technion. The Faculty may grant exemptions from certain courses, based on previous studies.
  • Preliminary consideration of applicants with a previous academic background will take into consideration the grades average of at least five semesters + the psychometric multi domain score. These grades should be submitted as early as possible.
  • Admission is conditional upon completion of all requirements for the first degree.
  • Committee decisions will be based on all the data included in the application package.
  • Minimal scores for non-cognitive evaluation /M.O.R  grade of 205.

Applicants Studying in Other Disciplines in Israel and Abroad (after the first 3-4 semesters) – only to the 1st year

  • Only applicants from the following disciplines will be considered: exact sciences or engineering or Dentistry.
  • Applicants in this category may apply only to the first year of studies at the Faculty of Medicine, Technion. The Faculty may grant exemptions from certain courses, based on previous studies.
  • Preliminary consideration of applicants with a previous academic background will take into consideration the grades average of 3-4 first semesters (must be at least 85) + the psychometric score (at least 700) + "Sechem" grade (at least 91). These grades should be submitted as early as possible.
  • Committee decisions will be based on all the data included in the application package.
  • Minimal grades for non-cognitive evaluation / M.O.R  grade of 205.

Submission of Documents Attesting to Academic Background in all the Above-Mentioned Disciplines

Note: The deadline for consideration of admission of applicants with a previous academic background, who have already applied to the Technion, is 31.3.2017

Applicants with a previous academic background must submit all the application documents required of all new applicants; Health Declaration, an official grade transcript signed by the issuing institution, specifying courses taken during previous studies and the grades obtained.

Grade transcripts, which do not include an up-to-date cumulative grade average, will not be considered.

Applicants with grades from abroad should provide a notarized photocopy of their grades, together with a notarized translation to Hebrew.

Applicants in this category will be considered on the basis of their grade transcript and psychometric multi domain score (or the SAT). Applicants who have completed an academic degree must present their degree or proof of eligibility for the degree.

Candidates whose studies at the Technion were terminated due to poor academic performance, are entitled to apply to the Technion no earlier than two years after their studies were terminated. They will have to present, when registering, all documents pertaining to the termination of their studies.

Applicants with a previous academic background will not be considered on the basis of their "sachem" only.
