Career Options and Job Opportunities
Electrical Engineering is a broad and varied field , which opens the door to wide range of career opportunities in the major areas of the hi-tech industry and research, including: Computer Engineering |Communication Systems and Networks | Micro, Opto and Nano Electronics | Signal and Image Processing | Machine Learning | Computerized Vision | Control Systems | Medical Electronics | Electromagnetic Engineering, and Electric Power Systems.
The study program is designed to grant students the necessary scientific and technical tools required to keep pace with the ever-evolving demands and challenges of the high-tech industry.
Electrical Engineering graduates hold top positions in all branches of the Israeli electronics, communications and computer industries.
The undergraduate studies are structured as follows: The first three semesters are dedicated to the establishment of a broad scientific foundation. Students concentrate on the core subjects of Mathematics, Physics and Computers. This is followed by a study program which provides the basic skills and specific expertise of electrical and computer engineering. The course work includes a significant amount of experimental activities as well as independent project work in which theoretical knowledge is applied to the design of systems and to the solution of practical problems. Projects are carried out in the research labs of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering.
Students choose one of three tracks towards their degree:
1. Electrical Engineering
This track awards the degree of "Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering" (BSc).
Once students complete the mandatory part of the curriculum, they have to choose three areas of specialization out of the following list: Communications (2 separate groups), Computers (2 separate groups), Computer Networks, Solid-state Electronics, Microelectronics and Nanotechnology, Waves and Electro-optics, Electro-optical Devices and Systems, Biological Signals and Systems, Control and Robotics, Signal and Image Processing, Machin Learning and Elctric Power Systems. The study program is complemented by a wide range of elective courses covering all areas of electrical and computer engineering.
2. Computer and Software Engineering
This track awards the degree of "Bachelor of Science in Computer and Software Engineering" (BSc).
Once students complete the mandatory part of the curriculum, they have to choose three areas of specialization out of the following list: Computer Networks, Communications Theory, Signal and Image Processing, Electronic Integrated Circuits, Controls and Robotics, Algorithms and Computation Theory, Software Systems, Scientific Programming and Programming Languages and Machin Learning. The study program is complemented by a wide range of elective courses covering all areas of computer engineering.
3. Computer Engineering
This track awards the degree of "Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering" (BSc).
Once students complete the mandatory part of the curriculum, they have to choose three areas of specialization out of the following list: Computer Networks, Distributed Systems and Computer Structures, Communications Theory, Algorithms, Coding, Encryption and Complexity, Signal and Image Processing, Intelligent Systems, Integrated Electronic Circuits, Software Systems, Advanced Programming and Scientific Programming, Controls and Robotics, Programming Languages, Formal and Natural Languages. The study program is complemented by a wide range of elective courses covering all areas of computer engineering.
(Includes the "PSAGOT" Program for Outstanding Atudaim - Army Study Program)
The four-year program is intended for outstanding students. The program is offeres jointly with the Physics Faculty, and leads to a BSc degree in Electrical Engineering and physics. The program is also intended for outstanding Atudaim (Academic Reserves) - Army Study Program within the "Psagot" program.
For more information see: Electrical Engineering and Physics
A flexible program encouraging excellence has been developed for outstanding students. Outstanding students may construct a personalized study program, under the supervision of a faculty member, taking into account the individual skills and professional aspirations of the student. Graduate courses may be integrated into this special study program.
Study Program for Technicians
The faculty offers a special study program for technical high school graduates who have specialized in the fields of electrical engineering, electronics, computers, control, and instrumentation.
An advanced PC farm is available to the students throughout their studies. Free Wi-Fi is available as well.
Graduates with suitable grades are encouraged to continue to post-graduate studies leading to MSc and PhD degrees. Outstanding students may begin graduate studies while still enrolled in the undergraduate program. A special academic advisor assists these students.
